Do you have time to just go through the motions?

When was the last time you considered the drivers behind your personal commitment to your job or business?  Why do you personally put forth the time and energy that you do?  Try asking yourself these 3 key questions.

  1. Do I feel like a valued and respected part of the team/organization?  Why or why not?
  2. Do I feel like I can contribute or make an impact?  Why or why not?
  3. Is there something here that I feel passionate about, or could feel passionate about under the right circumstances?

Thinking about these three questions can help you understand your level of commitment to any team or organization in your life… your work, your volunteer commitments, even your relationships.  It can help you re-engage where necessary, or even prune, because lets face it, none of us have time to just go through the motions.

Now stop and think about these 3 questions from the perspective of your employees.  Are you doing what you can to help them re-engage vs. prune?
